Veterans Day originated as “Armistice Day” on Nov. 11, 1919, the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.  Unlike Memorial Day, Veterans Day pays tribute to all American veterans—living or dead—but especially gives thanks to living veterans who served their country honorably during war or peacetime.

The ASIS Greater Kansas City Chapter is pleased to have as our guest, Max Deweese.  Max is a United States Marine who was in the first wave onto Guadalcanal in 1942.  He also fought in Tarawa and the Marianas islands.  Max was awarded two Purple Hearts for a combat injury during these missions.  Max is 96 years old and still drives his own car.

Please join us on November 1, 2018 to honor those who serve and have served this great country of ours, the United States of America.
