About the speakers
George Okaty, CPP, is Director of Safety and Security at the Tidewater Community College in Virginia. He began his career as a police officer and went on to hold director and management positions at educational institutions, a retail chain, an art museum, and a hospital system. Mr. Okaty has a Master of Public Administration and is an at-large board member for the Virginia Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (VACLEA). He has been published in professional magazines such as the Campus Law Enforcement Journal, Police Chief, Security Management, Business Officer, and Campus Security. Mr. Okaty celebrates 20 years as a CPP this year.
Lawrence J. Fennelly is currently the president of Litigation Consultants Inc. Mr. Fennelly retired from the Harvard University Police Department where he was a Staff Sgt. in charge of crime prevention and physical security. His recent books are titled Handbook for School Safety & Security K to 12, CPTED 3 ed with Tim Crowe, and Security for Colleges and Universities. He is currently the chair of the ASIS School Safety & Security Council.
Dr. Mark H. Beaudry, CPP, has been a member of ASIS since 1982 and a Certified Protection Professional since 1996. He is a member of the Crime Prevention Council, an active participant of the Academic Practitioner Symposium, Chair of the LMPC, and Vice-Chair of the Research Council. Dr. Beaudry is a published author as well as a frequent contributor of articles and book reviews to Security Management.
