Title: Security Consulting 101: The World Trade Center and Beyond

Security Consulting 101: The World Trade Center and Beyond is a comprehensive presentation that outlines the components of developing and maintaining a cohesive physical security program.  Assessment and planning are the first components to identify risks, threats, mitigation strategies, and budgeting, the application of security related standards and guidelines are reviewed as a component in identifying potential impacts to the program.  The presentation continues with the design of physical security; the impacts to the facility both external and internal; and the coordination of the design (i.e., structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, etc.).  Finally the presentation concludes with the World Trade Center and the lessons learned in developing, designing, and budgeting for a cohesive physical security program.       

Michelle Hofmaster is a Senior Security Consultant for The Sextant Group.  Her responsibilities include: Threat and Risk Assessments, Security Master Planning, Electric Security Systems design, and other specialized Security Consulting service offing.  Some of her clients include:  The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (The World Trade Center; La Guardia Airport, etc.); Caterpillar, Morgan Stanley, Smithsonian Institute, JP Morgan Chase, Amtrak; University of Texas, and many more.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science in Security Management from Bellevue University, where she is also an Adjunct Professor for the Security Management program.  Michelle is a PhD candidate in Public Policy and Administration with an Emphasis in Homeland Security at Walden University and a published author. Michelle holds many security certifications to include: Risk Assessment Methodologies – Critical Infrastructure and Dams (RAM-C I and RAM-D) from Sandia National Lab, Certified Homeland Security III, and others.  She is the Women in Security Chairperson for the Heartland Omaha ASIS Chapter 59 chairperson, a member of the ASIS International Women in Security Global Liaison Committee, and an Executive Committee member for the Nebraska Infrastructure Protection Council.
