We are proud to honor and recognize a Service Member and recent retiree that made International news this year. MSG (Ret) David Royer is credited with stopping an active shooter May 27, 2020 on the Centennial Bridge, Leavenworth, KS, when he drove his vehicle into the suspect. He undoubtedly saved many lives with his quick and decisive actions.
On July 16, 2020 MSG Royer was awarded the Soldier's Medal by Gen. James McConville, Army chief of staff, at Fort Leavenworth, KS. The Soldier’s Medal is awarded to any active-duty or Reserve Soldier who, while not on duty, distinguishes himself or herself by heroism not involving an enemy conflict.
