TOPIC: The Paybacks of Carefully Planned Security Technology Implementation
With emerging security threats and increasing security standards, many industries are investing more than ever in electronic security measures. With so many electronic security technologies on the market, it can be an arduous task to select and implement these technologies in an effective manner. Investing in technologies that do not meet performance requirements, do not integrate into existing security systems, or exhibit high failure rates, can result in wasted capital and O&M expenditures, frustrated security officers and managers, and increased security vulnerabilities.
Developing an effective technology strategy prior to the deployment of security measures is crucial. The technology strategy should include the development of clear and measurable performance metrics and the vetting of potential candidates prior to implementation. This presentation provides a methodology for implementing these technologies and discusses some of the pitfalls to avoid.
