Keynote Speaker: Getting to strategic alignment

by Prof. Christopher A. Walker, DBA of the Neeley School of Business, Texas Christian University

Description: The term strategy has military roots. It involves assessing the (competitive) situation and developing an appropriate (strategic) response. In business terms, strategy is a goal-oriented set of plans and actions that enables a business to compete effectively. Security’s role in this process is to ensure that their strategies, objectives, and goals are aligned with those of the organization. Security must understand the organization’s strategy in order to be successful.

BiographyDr. Walker is currently a full-time instructor of strategic management at Texas Christian University. He is a business strategy professor, former management consultant, law enforcement officer, and served as the head of global security for a Fortune 50 company. Dr. Walker has spoken at a number of global conferences and helped develop the ASIS/IE Business School program "Effective Management for Security Professionals" and authored the ASIS Protection of Assets book Business Principles for Security Management.
