Insider Threat and

Counterintelligence

in Corporate Security

Program: Our guest speaker, Phil Lantz of Black and Veatch, will present information regarding insider threat and counterintelligence in Corporate Security. 

MSG Phil Lantz, US Army (Ret) served as an active-duty credentialed US Army Intelligence (USAI) Counterintelligence (CI) Special Agent (SA). Phil was a member of a specialized career program consisting of the top Army Intelligence professionals. During his time as a CI agent, he supported special mission units, led strategic and operational CI/HUMINT analysis cells, conducted strategic and operational level CI operations, and served in leadership roles in MI detachments, companies, Joint Counterintelligence Units (JCIU), counterespionage (CE) teams, and joint allied intelligence service operations and advisory efforts.

His advanced training includes, but is not limited to, Advanced Foreign Counterintelligence (FCI) Operations, Advanced FCI Investigations, Technology Protection, High-Threat Environment Operations, Threat-Vulnerability Assessment and Mitigation, basic and advanced CE and counter terrorism Analysis, physical surveillance (foot, mobile and aerial), counter-surveillance, adversarial deception (operations and detection), and has demonstrated advanced (defensive and offensive, both paved and off-road) driving and marksmanship skills through completion of virtually every driving and marksmanship training program in the mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

SA (Ret) Lantz holds a BA from Excelsior College and is pursuing a MS in Security Management. He has earned CPP certification with ASIS and Global Insider Threat Certification from the University of Maryland Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security/Office of the Secretary of Defense. He is the recipient of the U.S. Army’s Legion of Merit, Knowlton Award, other U.S. and foreign defense and intelligence awards and citations, and the US Army Combat Action and US Army Air Crew Badges. He graduated as the Distinguished Honor Graduate of the CI Agent credentialing course.

Since retirement from active duty, Phil has worked as a Security Assurance and Intelligence/Counterintelligence Specialist for Black and Veatch (BV).
