Introduction

Based on your feedback from last year’s showcase, we have made some exciting changes, including a new location! We hope to make this event larger than ever and grow it to become the premier security event in the Midwest. We are grateful for your support and could not do this without you!

Where (New Location): Overland Park Convention Center, 6000 College Blvd, Overland Park, KS 66211

Program Information

The event starts with registration, continental breakfast, brief opening announcements, vendor engagement, and then breakout sessions. Attendees will visit the vendor tables before the event kickoff and during the gaps between breakout sessions. At noon, all attendees and vendors sit for a plated lunch for the presentation of the ASIS Greater Kanas City Chapter annual awards. The remaining time is handed over to the keynote speaker as soon as the awards are done (about 20 minutes). The event concludes at 2:00 pm with some raffle and door prizes provided by the vendors.

Vendor Information and Sponsorship

Raffles: Please Let us know if you can provide products, gift cards, or some other item for the raffle. These prizes are greatly appreciated and help increase the overall attendance at the event. Attendees will be required to visit your booth in order to be in the drawing. Raffle prizes will be awarded at the end of the event. The supplying vendor will be publicly recognized and appreciated for each prize.

Sponsorship: To provide an outstanding regional event for our attendees and vendors, which we hope to grow in the coming years, we have adjusted the vendor registration to a “sponsorship levels” model, which aligns more with larger industry events. Please carefully read the information below:

Information for ALL sponsorship levels:

  • You will have an 8’ x 30” rectangular table for your display/materials/demo equipment, etc.
  • Exterior space is available at the main entrance for large outdoor displays
  • Your table will be marked with your organization’s name when you arrive
  •  There will be power & Wi-Fi access in the event space, but please note that you should bring your own power strip if you have multiple devices to plug in. 
  • If you have more than two individuals at your vendor table, please add them as an “Additional Individual Vendor” at registration ($35 to cover meals).

Bronze Level Sponsor - $525

  • Your company logo on pre-event marketing materials, emails, and announcements and printed in the program on the day of the event

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Jenni Hesterman

Dr. Jennifer Hesterman is a retired Air Force colonel who served in three Pentagon tours and in multiple command positions in the field. Her last assignment was Vice Commander at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, where she was responsible for installation security, including the protection of Air Force One.

After retiring in 2007, Dr. Hesterman started work as a private contractor in Washington, DC, studying international and domestic terrorist organizations, transnational threats, soft target hardening, organized crime, and the terrorist and criminal exploitation of the Internet. Dr. Hesterman designs and instructs graduate-level security courses for the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency and the Department of Defense. She also advises the Homeland Security Training Institute at the College of DuPage in Chicago, the Crisis Response Journal, and three DHS Centers of Excellence.

Dr. Hesterman holds a doctoral degree from Benedictine University, Master of Science degrees from Johns Hopkins University and Air University, and a Bachelor of Science from Penn State University. In 2003, she was a National Defense Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. where she studied the terror-crime nexus. She was a senior fellow at the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security at George Washington University from 2016-2018.

An award-winning author, her book Soft Target Hardening: Protecting People from Attack was the ASIS Security Book of the Year for 2015, and the second edition won the same award in 2019. The book was also named Taylor and Francis Social Sciences Book of the Year in 2019. She also authored Soft Target Crisis Management (2016) and The Terrorist-Criminal Nexus (2013). Dr. Hesterman is dynamic and sought-after public speaker for ASIS, FBI, DHS, ASIS, DoD, state and local law enforcement agencies, Major League Baseball, among others.
