Johnson County Government is seeking a candidate for the position of Physical Security Manager within the Facilities department. This role is vital in managing the security infrastructure for all County departments/agencies which occupy 2.4 million square feet of space in 77 buildings. This position will establish maintenance, testing, monitoring and operations standards for physical security systems throughout the County. They will work with building engineers, County departments, Sheriff's Office and vendors. They will ensure service contracts are in place for testing, monitoring, equipment maintenance for County's physical security systems. This position will address and apply physical and informational security principles, practices, procedures, laws, regulations and current legislative issues.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Chief Security Officer and the Deputy Director of Emergency Management, provide strategic analysis and planning for senior level management on emergency situations including crisis planning, hazard mitigation and business continuity.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Security Officer and the Deputy Director of Emergency Management, help plan and conduct bi-annual tabletop exercises on various topics of a security or multi-hazard nature.
  • Under the guidance of the Chief Security Officer, conduct security assessments of county facilities to identify areas of vulnerability and coordinate corrective action for identified security risks.
  • Collaborate on the formulation, implementation and administration of joint processes, policies and procedures for maintenance, testing, monitoring and operating standards for physical security systems throughout all County departments and agencies.
  • In collaboration with the Chief Security Officer, develop, administer and implement facility security documentation and physical security management plans.
  • Develops metrics (testing) to gauge effectiveness of current and future security systems.
  • Manage all aspects of Facilities’ current and future security projects and term and supply contracts.
  • Manage documentation for building physical security systems and installation processes and procedures for systems to ensure that all solutions and components meet defined security design metrics for availability and performance.
  • Manage capital project budget and on-going security operating budget.

Job Requirements

A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, Public Administration, or a related field with five (5) years of Corporate Facilities and/or Security management experience is required.

A Master's degree in Business Administration, Facility Management, Public Administration, or a related field, five (5) years supervisory experience, and three (3) years of experience leading/managing security for a large complex, project, or site is preferred.

Experience can substitute for education.

Existing certification through an industry-recognized physical security professional organization is preferred, or the ability to obtain certification within 2 years is required.

A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is also required.

Candidate must pass a Sheriff’s office criminal background check, including polygraph examination, and be available for building and site emergencies.
