We are seeking a full time Physical Security Specialist at our world headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and enforcing policies and procedures relating to the protection and security of company assets, associates and guests of Garmin that comply with state and federal laws and Garmin’s internal controls. Other essential functions include: 

  • Administer current security procedures, practices and precedents for Garmin activities and functions while partnering with Human Resources and Legal

  • Partner with Environmental Health and Safety to administer emergency procedures and incident responses

  • Monitor operation center software and respond according to documented processes

  • Performs and maintains audits associated with general security procedures, physical security systems, keys, and compliance.

  • Perform periodic and random security inspections and prepare reports as necessary regarding issues, and security violations as required by inspections

  • Maintain inspection reports and advise senior management of deficiencies and corrective actions to ameliorate deficiencies

  • Process access revisions

  • Assist with corrective action and resolutions related to security audit deficiencies.

  • Assist with investigating criminal activities and crimes as well as reporting criminal information to authorities.

  • Assist with performing security and risk assessments.

  • Supervise contracted security staff and front desk staff to ensure adequate coverage for business requirements and partner with Supervisor for staffing issues

Qualifications

 Qualified candidates possess a High School Diploma or GED and coursework towards completion of a degree OR a minimum of 4 years related experience. Other requirements include:  
  • Must possess a minimum of 1 year previous law enforcement, military police and/or security combined experience

  • Must demonstrate the ability to deal with confidential company matters

  • Demonstrated leadership experience Must demonstrate effective and strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Must be team-oriented, possess a positive attitude and work well with others

  • Must demonstrate excellent problem solving and project management with a high level of interpersonal skills to work proactively across functional and organizational lines

  • Must be detail oriented and possess the ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task in a flexible, fast paced and challenging environment to effectively meet deadlines with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency and knowledge of current Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

A Bachelor’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice, or a field relevant for the successful performance of this job description is highly preferred!
