Chapter 50 Newsletter
I hope this newsletter continues to find all of our chapter members, friends, and families safe and healthy. As the weather is warming up and the country is opening up we are looking forward to the time we can meet together. We will continue to have virtual events for the first half of 2021, but we are looking to start having in person meetings starting in August. We are excited for the upcoming events; we have lined up some exciting speakers. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next meeting.

THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY AND SECURITY
Our guest presenters Timothy Sutton, CPP,PSP,CHPA and Carrie Goetz gave a presentation as an introduction to the cannabis industry holistically across the globe. Included was a brief touch on some of the requirements pertaining to the local area and ideas for how to get work in the industry.

News From Chapter Committees

During the last board meeting topics that were discussed:
- The KC ASIS Auction for the GSX All-Access Pass is Open for Online Bidding until July 15th Please Visit the Online Bidding Website to place your bids. LINK
- Applications are open for all Chapter Awards until July 15th. We would love to see nominations for Young Professionals and Women in Security for these! Please go to the KC ASIS Page to nominate local professionals here: Awards
- Applications for Chapter Awards are due by July 15th, please consider nominating local professionals according to chapter guidelines and eligibility. Any additional questions about eligibility or guidelines can be sent to the board at info@kcasis.org. We would be happy to provide guidance.
- Currently we are working on the final details of the upcoming Charity Golf Tournament and Awards Ceremony. We will provide more information once dates and venues have been confirmed.
Currently there are multiple committee openings for our chapter. If anyone is interested and would like more information, please send an email to info@kcasis.org and one of the Board Members will follow up.

Today’s threats are a result of hybrid attacks targeting both physical and cyber assets. The adoption and integration of devices have led to an increasingly interconnected mesh of cyber-physical systems (CPS), which expands the attack surface and blurs the once clear functions of cybersecurity and physical security.
