Summary
About the Position: Serves as an Operations Security Officer responsible for planning, evaluating, implementing and managing all security programs for the organization.

Responsibilities
- Manages security programs and ensures compliance with policies and procedures set forth by Department of Defense (DOD), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), Executive Orders, Headquarters, Department of Army (HQDA), and other national agencies.
- Maintain oversight of all security programs to include Physical Security, Antiterrorism (AT), and Operational Security (OPSEC).
- Conduct inquiries/investigations into security violations involving classified materials.
- Stay current and informed of all security, physical security, AT, OPSEC and key control policies, procedures, directives and regulations issued by the Combined Arms Center Special Security Officer (SSO) Program Manager

- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance base on an SBI with eligibility for sensitive compartmented information (SCI)
- In accordance with Change 3 to AR 600-85, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program, must successfully pass a urinalysis screening for illegal drug use prior to appointment and periodically thereafter.
- Temporary Duty (TDY) will be required 25% or less of the work schedule.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) applying security principles, concepts and methodologies of functional areas of security including information, automation, physical, communications and operations security; 2) researching regulations and applying specific guidance to security programs; 3) resolving security problems and situations based on established security systems, programs and regulations.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Business Administration, Management, Human Relations, Human Resources, Public Administration, or other related field. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
